Assistant Audio Engineer
We are seeking a detail-oriented, collaborative Assistant Audio Engineer to support our award-winning audio post team. Must be based in NYC and available to work onsite at our studio in Flatiron. Proficiency with ProTools required. Prior experience at a pro audio post studio is a plus!

Key Responsibilities:
Studio Maintenance & Daily Operations
Opening & facilities prep
Set up sessions for senior mixers
Set up live room and maintain hardware and studio environment
Archive audio sessions on our shared storage network
Session Preparation & Technical Workflow
Communication Handoff: Take ownership of incoming and outgoing materials and maintain communication with engineering and production teams
Session Setup: Create Pro Tools sessions using exact protocols/specifications
Media Conversion & Management: Convert incoming reference files and route video files to designated network storage paths
Pro Tools Engineering: Build precise marker structures, import and spot MOV video files and OMF/AAF stems accurately into Pro Tools templates
Posting & Deliverables, Quality Control (QC)
Exporting & Version Control: QC’ing mixes with precision and bouncing QuickTimes.
Client Postings: Generate and distribute correctly formatted posting links.
Final Deliverable Package Creation: Structure and label final delivery folders. Format and slate radio deliverables according to industry standard specifications.
Archival & Final Assets: Organize client final assets on Frame.io.
Required Qualifications & Technical Skills:
Audio Engineering & Software: Proficiency in Avid Pro Tools (session management, OMF/AAF handling, signal flow, surround/stereo formats). Working knowledge of post workflows.
Video Encoding & Tools: Working knowledge of encoding tools, frame rates and video file formats.
Hardware & Gear Knowledge: Familiarity with professional studio microphones, patch bays, and audio interfaces.
Attention to Detail: Absolute precision in file-naming protocols and metadata management. Comfortable working on multiple short and long-term projects simultaneously. Someone who isn’t satisfied with surface-level comprehension and looks to fully understand concepts and resolve issues that arise.
Communication: Strong professional email and chat etiquette, friendly and helpful to clients. Team player. Ability to keep composure and project calm during high-pressure situations.
Qualifications:
Degree or diploma in Audio Engineering, Sound Design, or Music Production.
OR 1–2 years of experience in a commercial post-production facility, recording studio, agency environment, or similar.
Troubleshooting skills for MacOS applications, video displays/projectors, and a general love of technology.
